Astec Corona Virus Policy & Update Page
The Government has included the following types of worker as being "key workers":
Telecommunications Engineers, Field Engineers and Broadcasters and we understand that it remains the case that the Government believe that the public do need continued access to Broadband and PSB (BBC, ITV, Ch4 & Ch5) TV services, for home working, home schooling and to receive news updates, as well as for general entertainment at this difficult time. So, if you have a problem as described below, then please call and leave us a voicemail or use the contact form facility on this site to contact us and provide us with sufficient information to allow us to assess if we are able to help you under the current Government guidelines.
Please be aware that it is very much at our complete discretion as to whether we undertake any requested work or not. We are closed completely to all but essential or emergency work as below as we need to balance the risk to everyone concerned and to be able to justify why we are not staying at home.
We will not carry out any work if we don’t think it’s safe, or morally the right thing to do.
Examples of where we may undertake instructions are;
If an aerial/dish is the only means for your household (whether a single house or in an apartment block) to receive BBC, ITV, Channel 4 or Channel 5 (i.e. you do not have alternative means of reception such as cable, satellite or the ability to stream TV content) then it might be considered essential to restore your service
An aerial or dish is hanging or laying in a precarious position and in danger of causing harm to persons or damage to property
If a broadband service is down this may also be deemed essential work if anyone is working or learning from home, or if it’s your only way to receive PSB services (as above)
If we are carrying out any of the above tasks, we would be classed as a key worker carrying out essential works.
In all circumstances we will follow and will require any Residents within the property to strictly follow Public Health guidelines with particular attention to the following:
observe strict social distancing - 2 metre minimum
strict hand hygiene rules - hand washing before and after our visit
use appropriate personal protection equipment where close contact or shared contact of devices cannot be avoided with the use of disposable gloves, masks, anti bac wipes for remotes etc .
If a problem can be resolved externally without entering a home then it will be and any payment due must be made electronically via Bank Transfer.
